In addition to our year-round USA Swimming program, the IVDA sponsors a summer only recreational swim team, the Sunstrokers. The Sunstrokers participate in the Imperial Valley Swim League (IVSL), an organization of summer clubs in Yuma, Brawley, Holtville, El Centro, and Imperial.

In 2009 the Brawley program will run from June 1st through July 25 and will include dual and invitational competitions.

The Sunstrokers are a GREAT way to become involved in competitive swimming in the Imperial Valley. The swimmers will learn all the competitive strokes, stay in shape, and make new friends! What a great way to spend a summer!

The program fee is $65 for the 1st swimmer ($55 for all other family members) and includes IVSL membership/insurance.  Sunstrokers Team T-shirt. Team suits, cap, and goggles will be available through the team at a discounted price. Weekend invitationals and the IVSL Championship meet, which are optional, require an entry fee (generally $15 to $20).

Registration will begin May 6-7 from 4-6pm and will continue until all slots are filled.

Practice Groups

Children 4 to 18 years of age, that can swim 25 yards, may participate. Practices will be scheduled between 3-5:15 from June 1st, and between 7:10-9:15 from June 15th through July 25th. All practices will be at the Lions Center Pool . Swimmers will be assigned to a 1 hour and 5 minute practice,or 1 hour practice based upon their age and ability.

               

Initial practice groupings will be determined June 1st. If you miss practice on the 1st, please arrive by 2:45 and you will be assigned to the proper practice group.
